Aneek Mustafa Anwar

 

Aneek Mustafa Anwar is a Bangladeshi visual artist, educator and photographer currently based in Athens, Ohio. His work focuses on memory in the personal and social sphere, unity, and difference in the lived experience of immigrants, climate change and tradition & cultural phenomena. The primary medium of the work is photography, which explores the possibilities of the digital and analogue medium in conjunction with text. Text and images intertwine to create narratives and evoke emotions.

 

The 2019 CCP fellowship programme opened new doors for Aneek as he travelled to Berlin as a CCP fellow and met his cohort from all over the world. Since then, he has actively participated in different CCP workshops and programs and led training sessions on digital security in one of the workshops. In 2023, he participated in the CCP conference on artificial intelligence in Stuttgart. Aneek is a regular contributor to the CCP magazine, writing and expressing his opinions, and he has served as a co-curator for Share magazine. He is an active member of the CCP alumni group in Bangladesh.

 

Aneek has worked as an educator and Vice-principal of Counter Foto and a photographer for GIZ, BRAC and local NGOs in Bangladesh. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology and a diploma in documentary photography from Counter Foto. He has trained under renowned photographers like Philip Blenkinsop, Raghu Rai and Arko Datto. Aneek’s work has been published in newspapers and books and shown nationally and internationally. In 2022, his solo exhibition ‘The Transient’ was funded by the Embassy of Germany in Dhaka as part of the celebrations of 50 years of friendship between Bangladesh and Germany. Aneek is currently a Master of Fine Arts Candidate in Photography & Integrated Media at Ohio University.
